Our Team

As Senior Financial Analyst at Capital Growth Buchalter, A.J. is responsible for a broad range of finance and accounting duties across the firm’s acquisitions, developments, and dispositions. These duties include financial modeling and analysis, developing and maintaining relationships with banks and financial institutions, and working with internal and external parties throughout the transaction process.

A.J. holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration, as well as a Master of Accountancy, both from the University of Alabama, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

A.J. began his career with Ernst & Young in Atlanta, GA before moving to Birmingham, AL where he joined the firm RSM. He worked in the audit practice at both firms, specializing in audits of publicly traded REITs and private real estate investment funds. After leaving public accounting, A.J. spent time as the Controller and then Director of Finance at a real estate development firm in Birmingham, AL. In 2022, A.J. was named a NextGenBHM Accounting honoree by the Birmingham Business Journal.

A.J. enjoys volunteering in the community, and currently serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Coosa Riverkeeper, a waterkeeper organization that promotes, protects, and restores the Coosa River in Central Alabama. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and as Chairman for The University of Alabama Ducks Unlimited Chapter.

A Birmingham native, A.J. currently resides in Bluff Park with his wife, Katie, daughter, Addie, and dog, Cooper. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors – whether that is hunting, fishing, golfing, or spending time with his family.
