When the holidays roll around, we often focus on sharing the love with those around us. “But at Capital Growth Buchalter, we believe that showing love to our community is an ongoing endeavor,” says Robert Buchalter, Managing Principal and Co-Chairman at Capital Growth Buchalter (CGB). “It is important to all of us to help others during times of need–but especially during the pandemic. Helping families weather their current challenges and economic crisis is important to Capital Growth Buchalter.”
On the evening of December 25, 2020, Capital Growth Buchalter (CGB) collaborated with the City of Birmingham and Elyton Hotel to feed 165 documented homeless families a hot meal at the Boutwell Auditorium. Prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Chris Moore of Elyton Hotel and delivered to the auditorium, 165 families without homes or resources enjoyed a holiday meal of their own. Birmingham’s Mayor Randall L. Woodfin, Chief Strategist Ed Fields, as well as Don Lupo, Operations Manager for the City of Birmingham, and Christopher J. Townsley, General Manager for Elyton Hotels, worked hard to make this evening possible during a freezing, cold winter night. Capital Growth Buchalter was grateful for the opportunity to sponsor the event.
A few days later, on December 30, 2020, Capital Growth Buchalter again partnered with Texas Roadhouse, and its Operating Partner Jim Jolly and their Market Partner Nick Hernandez to provide 300 boxed lunches to families who have experienced a high level of financial hardship due to the Covid-19 pandemic. These families were identified by Temporary Emergency Services, a United Way agency in Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa Councilwoman Raevan Howard joined in to help distribute meals to the families, and CGB also provided the families PPE supplies including masks and hand sanitizer. Kathie Buchalter Carnes, CGB broker/partner and also a board member of Temporary Emergency Services, coordinated this event.
